Kitten Nursery Club --a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization-- based in the U.S, is starting a campaign to help the community cats of Nepal. The stray and homeless cats of Kathmandu are facing an animal welfare problem, with hundreds of kittens being born into the streets, and little-to-no resources to the public help alleviate the issue.

These cats and kittens live out their short lives outside, facing many challenges including the dangers of getting hit by careless motor vehicles, lack of access to food & proper nutrition// starvation, no resources to get needed veterinary care when ill, and the relentless cycle of population when animals are not being spayed/neutered.

After visiting Nepal and seeing the cat overpopulation problem first-hand, our President was compelled to reach out to local veterinarians and rescue orgs in Kathmandu to see if we could collaborate on a TNR mission at a reasonable rate. We are currently working with Animal Care Centre in Chahabil, Kathmandu to help us provide community cats with the following: check-up, spay/neuter surgery, post-op medications (pain relief & antibiotics), and the rabies vaccine.

What is TNR? Trap--Neuter--Return. Why is it important? It tackles the overpopulation issue when animals are fighting for limited resources, stopping the breeding which in turn improves the lives of free-roaming cats. Places like Kathmandu are inundiated with kittens, with not enough places and homes to go to, and a culture that doesn't exactly welcome and adore this species of animals.
