Story
CCATE is a non-profit organization located in Norristown, PA, striving to ignite social change, growth, and empowerment for the Latinx community through programs that promote our core values of engagement, equity, collective leadership and imagination. As an organization built on family, student, and faculty interests and talents, we collaboratively design programming for children and adults in the areas of the arts, media & technology, health & fitness, environmental care, language & literacy, and postsecondary success. This summer we are seeking to raise $15,000 to fund our annual three-week camp, which will provide children of the Latinx community, who are typically underserved and underfunded, with the space and resources to learn and foster community.
Since 2013, CCATE has offered a July summer day camp at no cost (donations only) with the support of volunteer teachers, individual donors, and federal funding through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Initiative. This summer we are currently seeking new sponsors to support us as we finalize plans for our camp now that our community members and volunteers are being vaccinated.
We are thrilled to be able to move from online to in-person programming this summer! With your generous investment we will be able to
2021 Camp Theme: Rebuilding with Empathy
Our camp theme this summer, “Rebuilding Ourselves with Empathy,” chosen by our volunteer teachers and interns, focuses on the compassion with which we want to treat each other and ourselves as we are finally able to come together to celebrate our resiliency. This camp pioneers a new form of education where all voices matter through courses such as: filmmaking, painting and drawing, gardening, youth participatory action research, healthy cooking, robotics, and local field trips.
