Aisha Khaliq is the founder of Wings of Courage and the mother of Caroline Georgia, who passed away from EB at just nine months old. After Caroline’s passing, Aisha channeled her grief into action and transformed her heartbreak into purpose. Born from unimaginable pain, fierce love, and relentless determination, she created Wings of Courage to raise awareness of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), support families, and help fund the fight for a cure.
Through Wings of Courage, Aisha ensures that her daughter’s light never fades and that every butterfly child lost to EB is remembered, cherished, and fiercely fought for. In the hardest moments, Aisha holds onto to this truth: “EB can never take away our love or our fight.”
She lives each day in honor of Caroline Georgia’s memory, working tirelessly to give other children with EB the chance at the life her daughter was denied. “Caroline left behind a legacy of joy, magic, and vibrant colors,” Aisha says. “Like a phoenix rising, her memory fuels my resilience.” It is Caroline Georgia’s strength that pushes Aisha to face the pain and persist, and she invites others to do the same.
When Aisha speaks of reuniting with Caroline one day, her words echo with hope and peace: “Caroline Georgia, I will meet you again soon at the end of the horizon, the place where the sun kisses the sea.”
