Our beloved Glen Cove music teacher and band director of 27 years, Ed Smith, passed away sadly on March 27, 2020 during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were no bugles or drum rolls as he disappeared from our midst. Yet he leaves a tremendous legacy of musical excellence, especially in the lives of so many students whom he taught to play their instruments, be part of the school band and develop their musicianship. Mr. Smith taught with love and patience, and was also an esteemed member of the Northwinds Symphony Orchestra. You can help to honor the memory of Ed Smith and perpetuate his legacy by participating in the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce Reverse Raffle. A portion of the proceeds from this raffle will help to establish an Ed Smith Music Award.
