Families come in all shapes and sizes. They stretch, grow, and change—just like trees reaching toward the sun, finding strength in whatever soil they’re planted in.
For a long time, our little family was the three of us: my husband, me, and Bruce. And while that was full of love, we knew our hearts had room to grow. But as a couple who couldn’t “accidentally” start a family, we had so many questions. Where do we even begin? What options are out there? How do we make the right choice? We wanted to be thoughtful, intentional, and guided by love every step of the way.
That’s when we found Rainbow Families — and it truly changed our lives.
Attending their Maybe Baby event and annual conference became the first step on our journey. In those rooms, we found information, community, reassurance… and hope. It was there that we connected with the adoption agency that eventually matched us with an incredible child.
Nearly three years after our first conference, we are now the proud parents of an amazing 13-year-old boy. ๐ And we will never forget where that journey began.
Because of what Rainbow Families gave us, our cheer family at Cheer DC has chosen Rainbow Families as our primary beneficiary this year. We’re raising funds to help them continue supporting budding, growing, and established families across the DMV — families just like ours once was.
If you feel moved, please consider donating. This organization holds such a special place in our hearts, and your support helps more families find their way to each other — just like we did.
Thank you for loving and supporting our family. ๐
