Dear Chicago Community and Friends,

This year Chicago Global Shapers has the great pleasure of hosting 70 change makers across our Global Shapers community for our Midwest Retreat! Our theme, "Urbs in Horto," will guide our weekend as we strive to prioritize meaningful relationships and investing into our communities.

“Urbs in Horto" is more than just Chicago’s official slogan. In Latin, “Urbs in Horto” translates to “City in Garden,” capturing a vision of Chicago as an eco-conscious city, and speaking to a history of social collaboration in Chicago, something we hope to practice this weekend through our morning briefings, collaborative sessions, and site visits. We hope every moment is a chance to create, to inspire, and to shape a more sustainable and vibrant future for our communities.

As we gather from across the Midwest and by extension the U.S, we invite you to embrace the spirit of growth, innovation, and community that defines both Chicago and our Global Shapers mission. We hope the conversations and programming this weekend will cultivate ideas, nurture connections, and plant the seeds of positive change that will flourish long after we return to our respective cities.
