When it comes to housing segregation, Open Communities Alliance (OCA) is Connecticut’s most vital advocacy, legal, and policy organization. I know because I co-chair the board and I know the work that gets done.

Our mission – to combat residential racial segregation in Connecticut – sounds simple, but every step is a challenge our lawyers, policy and legislative advocates, and grassroots organizers are willing to take. Why? Because I and they believe that OCA offers the best route to meaningful social and economic change for our State. But it certainly will not come easily. OCA’s current, exciting challenges to suburban exclusionary zoning and discriminatory siting policies for affordable housing spotlight the deep housing segregation in Connecticut. OCA’s approaches promise real solutions.

I am proud to be a part of these efforts as the board co-chair and a financial contributor.
