Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Open Communities Alliance is my most important charitable, legal, and policy commitment. It has been all of these since it started nine years ago. (In fact, I participated in discussions with Erin Boggs about the need for this important civil rights organization even before OCA formally began.)

Our mission – to combat residential racial segregation in Connecticut – sounds simple. I believe, deeply, that it offers the best route to meaningful social and economic change for our State. But it certainly will not come easily. OCA’s current, exciting challenges to suburban exclusionary zoning and discriminatory siting policies for affordable housing spotlight segregation. They promise real solutions.

I am proud to be a part of these efforts, as a lawyer, the board co-chair, and a financial contributor.
