Every country needs social trust to survive: the belief that strangers are good people until their conduct suggests otherwise. Our country’s polarization has become geographical: we no longer seem to trust those who live in different regions and different neighborhoods. Housing segregation made this possible. As much as anything, we need to reacquaint the people of the United States with each other. No organization in Connecticut is doing as much to accomplish this as OCA.
