Chris Moon Foundation Donations

The Chris Moon Foundation is a nonprofit organization driven by the passion and dedication of Chris Moon's friends, family, and loved ones. People whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering character.

Chris Moon, a Tucson local, was the oldest child of two. He went on to be a Tucson High School graduate who sacrificed his life while serving our country in Afghanistan.

Chris was a naturally gifted athlete growing up and became an outstanding baseball player. He was drafted out of high school by the Atlanta Braves but instead, chose to accept a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Arizona.

 He worked out and played with the Wildcats during the fall season of his Freshman year. At the start of the second semester, Chris decided to pursue what had always been a dream of his, to serve our country. 

Chris enlisted in the US Army. Chris served several tours of duty and was credited with several successful missions until he was injured by an IED, just weeks before his scheduled return home to the United States. Chris was flown to the US Army Medical Center at Landstuhl, Germany but succumbed to his injuries on July 13, 2010. United by a shared desire to honor his legacy, the foundation works to make a lasting impact in the Tucson community. 

The foundation maintains Chris' legacy by awarding scholarships to deserving Southern Arizona high school students, providing support to military and Gold Star families, and contributing to youth sports programs throughout the area.
