A powerful super typhoon Sinlaku has devastated the islands of Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia — leaving families without shelter, clean water, or enough food to survive. The destruction has been widespread, and the people of Chuuk need our help right now.

What's Happening

Super Typhoon Sinlaku has devastated the isolated island communities of Chuuk and the greater Federated States of Micronesia. The latest assessments from the Chuuk Disaster Coordination Office (DCO) are staggering: 13,148 people are displaced, and nearly 7,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed. Because of its remote location in the Pacific, logistical hurdles are massive, and outside aid is slow to arrive. But this community is as strong as the storm, and we are stepping in to support their locally-led recovery.

How We Are Helping

Recovery doesn't happen from the outside in; it happens from the inside out. Sail Relief Team operates closely at the direction of local FSM leadership to fill critical, highly technical gaps.

To help families return home and rebuild, we are raising $12,000 to deploy four critical lifelines:

Hazard Mitigation: The DCO has requested 40 chainsaws— one for every municipality— to clear blocked access and dangerous tree falls. We are funding these saws and bringing in a professional tree faller to train local Department of Agriculture crews on the most hazardous cuts.

Power: Supplying 3 Tesla 10kW solar systems to power critical community hubs, schools, and medical centers in remote areas. More is needed.

Communications: Deploying Starlink units with Anker solar battery packs to outer islands so they can coordinate emergency aid and reconnect with loved ones.

Clean Water: Supporting ongoing local efforts for portable water filtration and desalination.
