CISV International

Story

For the first time in CISV history all educational programs were cancelled and future in-person experiences remain unpredictable at this time.

Perhaps because of the timing - July being a month when a lot of participants would usually be traveling globally to create long-lasting friendships - CISV began to receive inquiries and see social media connections increase. Alumni of CISV programs and future participants, filled with nostalgia for simpler times and now equipped with online video chat platforms, started developing new ways for connection and sharing.

There was a call for lullabies and lots of videoconferences with CISVers connecting for the first time since 1973, 1987, 2008. A call as only CISVers can for global friendship, to check on their friends, and a shout out for peace.

Do you think back to your CISV experience? Do you recall a memory which helped you embrace who you are and build the confidence to share who that might be in the future?

Today in an effort of sharing a feeling of peace with all CISVers and future ones, we ask for you to embrace those bits and connections of friendship which led to personal growth, to becoming an active global citizen!

Due to program cancellations, CISV is faced with severe financial challenges. As the organization strives to adapt and continue our important mission, we need each of you to give from your heart, to pay your CISV memories forward to the child you once were. We need you to help CISV and preserve your memory - share your photos and stories and tag your friends who are a part of your memories and encourage them to Pay It Forward as well!

CISV needs you to be an active CISVer and give back today, to make each memory count!

CISV was and still is a relevant part of my life - taking part in the Seminarcamp in Sweden, as JC in Darmstadt, as a leader in Sweden, visiting friends in Finland, Holland, Italy, England, France had a great impact on my life and formed my way of thinking about international relations. Nowadays I'm a busy English teacher, who tries to pass on this attitude to her students. Thanks to my good friend Susanne and brother Christian, I can fresh up these experiences by visiting DISV meetings and seeing old CISV-friends now and then. CISVers, please keep on doing your good work and have fun doing so!
