In August 2020 Mike was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. After two years and 47 treatments, he was told that all standard options had been exhausted. He was honored to participate in two different research studies. He hoped to be able to help others diagnosed with cancer while defeating his own. Unfortunately the trial treatments were not effective for him and he passed away in February 2023, two and one half years after his diagnosis. I am honoring Mike's memory and his desire to further research by participating in the Climb for a Cure in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on July 20.
