Story

We’ve had a record number of middle school referrals this year. Here are just a few of the stories shared with us in the referral letters:

“Juan is getting into fights almost every day and is at risk of being expelled from 7th grade. Without an after-school program like REACH 180 to give him an outlet and safe place to get to the root cause of his anger, Juan's behavior will continue to escalate.”

(Betty – Group Home Case Manager)

“Alicia's mom is abusive and an alcoholic, so she is living with her aunt. Alicia is skipping school and her grades are failing. Without a program like REACH 180 that addresses her behaviors and provides tools to support her rising above it, we are afraid she will run away and become a trafficking victim.”

(Shauna – DCFS Case Manager)

“Tyrell's brother was shot and killed 3 months ago. Overcome with grief and rage, Tyrell started carrying a gun to school. Without a safe space to process his trauma like REACH 180, he will likely be arrested or hurt someone in the next 6 months.”

(Miriam – Henry County Middle School Counselor)

“Eva’s parents went to prison for robbery and drug trafficking when she was 10. Living in crowded foster homes, she struggles to focus in class, is socially awkward and suffers with depression. Without a REACH 180 program where she can connect with compassionate mentors and deal with her intense feelings, we are afraid she will fall back into self harming behaviors or take her own life.”

(Emily – Youth Pastor)

Because we don’t currently accept middle school aged students into our afterschool programs, our BIG DREAM is to launch a REACH 180 program serving middle school students in January 2024. But we need YOUR help.

We have a goal of raising $30,000 in 30 days, which will allow us to serve up to 20 at risk middle schoolers from January to June in 2024.

Your gift today of:

$100 - Provides 1 family style meal for 10 youth and staff attending a REACH 180 session

$300 - Provides transportation for students to REACH 180 programming for 2 weeks

$500 - Provides a unique cultural experience for 5 at risk students

$1400 - Provides an ENTIRE YEAR of REACH 180 programing for 1 at risk youth 4 days a week

Give today to the Climb Campaign so that we can help middle school kids like Juan, Alicia, Tyrelle, and Eva move from risk to resilience.
