About the Workshop

A Clinical Compass: Common Factors, Therapeutic Alliance and Feedback as a Framework for Navigating Treatment Priorities in Marriage and Family Therapy

This workshop will offer participants a framework for understanding and organizing the process of treatment. It will introduce participants to a body of research known as Common Factors and expand on two such factors known as the Therapeutic Alliance and Feedback effects as a means for guiding and organizing the therapeutic process. Participants will not only be able to define the concepts of Common Factors, Therapeutic Alliance, and Feedback, they will be equipped with concrete methods to apply these principles in treatment with clients and client relational systems.

Register by March 18, 2026 to attend either in-person or online.

Cost to Attend

Registration is $50 per person.

MFT CEU Credits Available

Participation in this hybrid workshop can count for two MFT CEUs. You will be required to fill out an evaluation survey at an allotted time during the workshop and submit it to qualify for the CEU credits. Your certificate will then be mailed to you.

About the Instructor

Barry Winstead is currently the Clinical Director at Kilgore Samaritan Counseling Center. He has an MDiv in Pastoral Counseling and an MA in Marriage & Family Therapy. With 30 years of clinical experience, he has practiced in a variety of clinical settings ranging from inpatient acute care to residential to outpatient contexts. He has been a member of the clinical faculty at LPTS for over 15 years.
