Clothing & Shoes

Many children arrive at Mlali with few or no personal belongings, so the Centre provides essential clothing and shoes, including everyday wear and weather-appropriate items. Crawling, dragging themselves, and using mobility aids accelerates wear and tear, and much of the current stock is old and insufficient. Cleanliness is a priority, and children need to change clothes several times each day, making a reliable supply essential. The Centre buys clothing in bales and shoes from second-hand sellers, sorting items to meet each child’s needs.

Clothing bales typically cost around $70 USD and provide garments for multiple children, while shoes average $12 USD per pair depending on the child’s age.

With a total of $300, the Centre can stock enough clothes and shoes to meet its current needs.
