ABOUT US
The Civilian Military Defense Fund Inc. (CMDF Inc.) was established to address the critical need for comprehensive legal and financial support for service members entangled in the complexities of the military justice system. Our foundation is deeply rooted in the personal experiences of our founders and board members, who have witnessed firsthand the systemic challenges and injustices faced by military personnel.
Our Founder
Jason Wareham, a distinguished trial and appellate attorney, has been practicing law since 2007. With nearly two decades of experience, he has tried numerous cases across state, federal, and military courts, many involving high-stakes and highly classified matters. Jason's tenure includes over 13 years of active duty as a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the designation of Master of Criminal Law. His unwavering commitment to justice and profound understanding of military law have positioned him among the nation's most respected civilian military lawyers.
Our Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors comprises a diverse group of high-level public defenders, private attorneys and professionals who have been directly exposed to the military justice system's intricacies and challenges. This collective of public defenders, former Judge Advocates, and esteemed civilian lawyers brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to advocating for service members' rights amidst a tilted system. Their combined expertise and dedication form the backbone of CMDF Inc., driving our mission to provide essential support to those who serve.
Our Mission
At CMDF Inc., we are resolute in our mission to provide essential financial assistance and unparalleled legal resources to service members in need. Alarmingly, over a third of military suicides involve individuals undergoing criminal or administrative proceedings, highlighting the immense pressure and isolation experienced during such times. Moreover, a pervasive culture that prioritizes institutional preservation over individual rights has eroded trust and perpetuated injustices within the system. Through our concerted efforts, we aim to confront these systemic issues head-on, advocating for transparency, accountability, and the fundamental rights of those who serve.
Join Us
We invite you to stand with us in this crucial endeavor. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those who have dedicated themselves to defending our nation.
