Our dear community member, friend, parent and change maker, Fran Sequeira had an accident that resulted in a badly fractured shoulder and 4 fractured vertebrae. It remains to be determined whether or not he will need surgery. Without surgery he is looking at a 6 month recovery time, and a potential change in occupation long term.

Those who know Fran, know him to always be busy working to support his family and community. He has always worked 6-7 days a week to offer extensive care to those around him. Currently, he supports his family of 7, of which he is one of the two income producers and vehicle drivers in the family. Fran runs a native land care business and also works as a carpenter.

He is also part of the Finca Luna Búho collective, where he supports programs in many capacities as land tender, facilitator, and program manager. One of which is Seeding Solidarity, a co-collaboratory food sovereignty program with Woven Roots Farm that offers weekly food shares, and education & community building opportunities to 60 families in Berkshire county. The over 200 participants are mostly immigrants, for whom he is passionate about offering space and community in the Berkshires.

At Finca Luna Búho, Woven Roots and through NOFA Mass (Northeast Organic Farmers Association), Fran offers translation services based in language justice, and is deeply honored to do so.

Fran is also a co-founder of Sonrisas, a solidarity not charity organization that has offered support/reparations to community based initiatives in Nicaragua (his native country.) Sonrisas has worked intimately with 8 communities since 2005.

During this moment we are asking our community to offer support to someone who gives and cares for so many. The goal is to fund raise for living and medical expenses over the next year.

**If more money is raised than needed it will be immediately redistributed to community members dealing with medical expenses due to long Covid and for immigration legal support.**
