The Esplanade House Community Council is a critical component of the Esplanade House transitional housing program. Made up of current Esplanade House participants, the community council is comprised of elected officers who provide input in the oversight of the program, act as advocates for the people living in the Esplanade House community, and plan for children focused events throughout the year. The Community Council demonstrates self-determination by deciding which events to hold, how these events will be orchestrated, and raise money that is controlled by the Community Council treasurer. All funds raised by the Community Council stays with them and are used according to the council's wishes. Current fundraising efforts are focused on providing enriching summer activities for the children living in the Esplanade House community.
