Comunidad de Luz is a brand-new shelter in Tijuana, Mexico, opening its doors on May, 2025 thanks to a powerful collaboration between the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, Via International, Vida Joven Foundation, the Pacifica Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Anglican Church of Tijuana.

This shelter will provide safety, dignity, and opportunity for up to 100 migrant women and children. In response to the growing humanitarian crisis at the U.S.–Mexico border, Comunidad de Luz offers more than emergency housing. It is a space for healing and rebuilding lives.

For 50 years, Via International has worked alongside communities in need, fostering resilience, compassion, dignity, and hope. Via Migrante was born in times of crisis, during the migrant caravans and the COVID-19 pandemic, when thousands were left stranded, unsure of where to turn. We showed up then. We are showing up now.
