What we do here is God calling for me. When I was in middle and high school, I longed for an adult of the same background and experiences. Dealing with so much change at the same time and not having anyone to guide me through it was tough. I wanted to be able to see myself in the adults who served me in the school building. The Congolese population in my town was so low and most of our parents worked at factory jobs and I knew I wanted more than what our parents had. So, I became the guide, the inspiration, I never had for I wanted our community to be better, more progressive, and more economically and socially developed. I wanted to help youth in my community understand their potentials, to go after their dreams and achieve their goals so they can come back to the community and do the same for others. Working with CYC, I am able to provide that guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role model for the kids I work with. The relationships I have built through CYC are some that will last a lifetime.
