Our team is made up of dedicated Phi Delta Theta brothers who want to leave ALS better than we found it!

When someone is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease, they are given a very short time to live... on average, two-to-four years. They learn that their ability to walk, talk, feed themselves, swallow, and ultimately breathe will end. They learn that there is no effective treatment. There is no cure. And they face an excruciating financial burden--one that often leaves families (and especially their children!) at a disadvantage for decades.

We want to do something about it!

Last year, members of the Indiana Alpha chapter of Phi Delta Theta came up with an idea for a brand new event to raise money called Copa Del Greek. The event was an indoor soccer tournament with 16 Greek houses, eight teams consisting of one fraternity and one sorority, from Indiana University. The event raised close to $26,000, and this year we have hopes to make the event even bigger. Be sure to follow our Instagram page for updates and photos from our events!

We have set a goal to raise $100,000 by the end of the 2022-23 school year with the event Copa Del Greek. The event will be held December 4th at the John Mellencamp Pavilion. Please consider joining our team, supporting our team through a donation, or supporting one of our team members.

The Live Like Lou Foundation is dedicated to promoting ALS research, supporting innovative research centers, and giving children of ALS families life-enhancing experiences and financial assistance as they pursue their higher education dreams. Phi Delta Theta is partnered with Live Like Lou in honor of Lou Gehrig, MLB Hall of Famer and brother of Phi Delta Theta, who passed away due to ALS.

We hope to make history on our campus and throughout our fraternity, and leave ALS better than we found it!

About the Live Like Lou Foundation
The Live Like Lou Foundation was established in 2017 as a national nonprofit with a vision to leave ALS better than we found it. Named in honor of MLB Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Live Like Lou supports ALS families, funds emerging researchers seeking meaningful treatments and cures for ALS, and helps generate awareness of Lou Gehrig’s disease. In the face of his ALS diagnosis, Lou Gehrig continued to live his life with courage, determination, and gratitude... this is what we mean when we say, Live Like Lou.

In Lou’s memory, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity members have served more than 300 ALS families through Live Like Lou. Learn more about the Live Like Lou Foundation on our website at livelikelou.org.
