CORINTHIANS a dark comedy by Andrew Cristi

Hello human!

Andrew Cristi here. On February 20th 2025 I am celebrating my 40th birthday, woooooo! πŸ₯³ Nothing would thrill me more than to raise funds for a play I'm working on entitled Corinthians. I will be partnering with Broadway Barkada πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ to present a private, developmental reading mid February. Donations will help pay for artist honorariums, rehearsal/presentation spaces, office supplies and seed money for the show's future development. As the playwriting improves and the story strengthens over time, my dream is that Corinthians can be a fully realized production either Off-Broadway or in a respected regional theatre. Any donation amount is appreciated! If you cannot contribute monetarily, a social media post sharing the fundraiser costs you nothing.

🫢🏽 Thank you for supporting my art! πŸ™πŸ½

ABOUT THE PLAY:

Linus Dinh is a shitty, complicated priest. He jerks around, listens to pop music in confessional booths and flirts with men on the subway. As a mysterious repenter seeks Father Dinh's council, vows are broken and unrelenting memories surface. Nihilistic and humorously prodding, this critique of Catholic culture begs the question: "Was like, Jesus into feet?"

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:

Andrew Cristi [he/they] is a queer, GNC, performer-playwright who spawns from Thai, Filipino and Chinese ancestry. After being born in the US, Andrew moved to Bangkok, Thailand with his family at the adorable age of 4. He moved back to America at 13 years old, later receiving their BFA at NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. As a cynically optimistic counterculturist, they write funny plays about sex, religion, weird culture wars and more. Andrew's play readings include S-x Care (Bonfire Theatre Group), Good Triggers, The Invention and Corinthians (Ripley Grier). He lives in Queens, NY with his homosexual lover/b*tch, Steve. ABOUT BROADWAY BARKADA:

Broadway Barkada is an affinity group that provides a community for Filipino artists that cultivates our talents, educates our audiences, and elevates our global impact. It was founded in 2009 by Liz Casasola, Brian Jose, and Billy Bustamante. What started as a small group of Filipino performers has turned into an organization comprised of nearly one hundred active members. Broadway Barkada aims to nurture and support filipino artists who believe in the importance of cultural awareness. Through art and education we aim to bring the Filipino experience to a diverse audience and to give them a deeper understanding of our culture and our artists.

UPDATE:

*** Billy Bustamante will serve as director for Corinthians!
