Flavor Lab Programming for Youth

Flavor Lab Programming happens at not only our main Downtown Branch, but also at our community branches and allows the Chattanooga Public Library to partner with schools and community centers throughout the community. This program teaches valuable life skills related to food prep, food budgeting, helps build community, and strengthens reading, math, science, and

comprehension skills.

Since the program’s inception in 2016, the program has served 1,025 children and youth. It is so rewarding watching these kids engage in preparing and cooking food, talking to other participants about the experience, and listening to them tell their families about what they learned and how they can’t wait to share the experience at home with family. The vast majority of children rely more

and more on quick meals – like those from the window of a fast-food establishment or a frozen meal from the grocery store. The Flavor Lab curriculum helps participants make healthy choices when it comes to food and their overall health and nutrition.

Your gift to the Flavor Lab program will continue our mission to support the Chattanooga Public Library in providing learning opportunities that will last a lifetime.
