Cranes Across Maryland

Sadako was a young girl who developed Leukemia following the atomic bombing in Japan. Inspired by Japanese belief that folding 1,000 paper cranes would grant a wish, Sadako folded over 1,000 cranes in hopes of getting better. Though she passed from Leukemia, her story became well-known due to her optimism and cheerfulness.

The 1,000 cranes across Maryland initiative aims to uplift those affected by cancer and chronic illnesses by spreading hope.
