Connecticut AIDS Memorial

The Connecticut AIDS Memorial will be an everlasting tribute to those who have died from AIDS related illnesses. This monument will serve as a reminder of Shawn Lang’s brand of soul force, the force of love, the force of resistance - indicating as we enter the LOB/Capitol grounds that “This is your house!” and as we leave, that we are called to “Go out and change the world.” Learn more here.

On November 13, 2023, a resolution was passed by the Hartford City Council supporting the creation of the CT AIDS Memorial on Hartford City property. The Shawn Lang Task Force will continue its efforts to make the memorial a reality. With funds already secured from private donors and a $50,000 grant from Greater Hartford Arts Council, along with a promise of additional state funds, the task force remains hopeful to have a public announcement sometime in Spring 2024.
