Major Tammy Ortung retired in 2011 after 25 years in the United States Air Force, serving in both the enlisted and officer corps. Tammy has a passion for serving others and sharing the transforming, renewing, and healing power of Jesus Christ. Since retirement, she has served on the Stonecroft Military Team (Beauties and Boots) as a National Consultant – partnering with Chaplains and parachurch ministries to serve female veterans and their families. Tammy is actively involved in her local church and community, and mentors our nation’s future leaders while chaperoning JROTC drill meets and curriculum-in-action field trips. 

Tammy joined the Cross the Divide team in the summer of 2023, leading brand new women’s retreats in western Washington and eastern Oregon.  She accepted the invitation to come on the Board of Directors a couple months later and is excited to begin this new journey.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, sewing, crafting, and taking leisurely hikes, immersing herself in God’s amazing creation. She resides with her husband, Tim (MSgt, USAF retired), and Newfie, Koda, in South Carolina, and spends summers in the incomparable beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
