CTF Scholarships Fund

Your donation to the Children & Teachers Foundation of the CTU Scholarship Fund will help fuel the ambitions of the next generation of educators and leaders.

Your donation will support both the annual CTU Academic Scholarships and the annual Karen GJ Lewis Scholarship Award.

Multiple CTU Academic Scholarships of $1000 will be awarded to students to help defray the cost of post-secondary education in college or vocational programs. The scholarships, which are named for important and historic CTU leaders, are entirely unrestricted as to race, religion, political affiliation, or choice of accredited college, university, business, trade, or vocational school. Applicants must be the child of a currently employed, active member in good standing of the Chicago Teachers Union, or a child of a deceased member who was in good standing with the Chicago Teachers Union at the time of death, and a high school senior who will graduate the current school year year. Special education students are eligible for all scholarships and are encouraged to apply. Your contribution helps ensure that we can continue to support diverse future leaders.

The Karen GJ Lewis Scholarship honors the former CTU president's immense contributions to labor, education, social justice and community engagement. The Chicago Teachers Union and the American Federation of Teachers each pledged $100,000 toward this fund to promote and encourage the next generation of Black servant leaders in Chicago’s public education system. The Karen GJ Lewis Scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable $10,000 education scholarship. You contribution helps ensure that this fund will support future teachers far into the future.
