Why We Need Your Help
As of May 16, 2025, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama ended its partnership with The Lactation Network, leaving the majority of Gulf Coast families without affordable, insurance-covered access to breastfeeding services. This change has impacted over 80% of Gulf Coast Lactation’s clients, pushing vital prenatal and postpartum care further out of reach. Even before this change, many women faced barriers to outpatient lactation care due to restrictive insurance billing policies.

We are thrilled to announce that the Gulf Coast Lactation Center in Daphne, AL opened in August 2025. This welcoming space provides free, in-person prenatal and postpartum lactation support. Meeting with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant before and after birth builds confidence, ensures your baby is feeding well, and gives you the expert support you need to feel informed, empowered, and never alone. While we are open, we still need your help to keep these essential, supportive services free for those who need them.
