Elevated blood pressure is often known as the silent killer. It can creep up to dangerously high levels without warning or symptoms. During pregnancy this can be especially dangerous as two lives are at risk. Untreated, elevated blood pressure can lead to stroke, preterm birth, and even death.

A home blood pressure cuff is a simple yet crucial life saving tool. With an at home cuff, Black mamas have the ability to monitor their blood pressure daily. Frequent monitoring will lead to early recognition of elevated levels allowing swift treatment to prevent complications.

Just this year, cuffs distributed by the Perinatal Health Equity Team have reduced complications and saved lives. Many leading to hospital readmissions and treatment for preeclampsia.

This GivingTuesday we are asking for your help to put more Cuff It kits in the hands of our Black mamas. Each Cuff It kit comes with the following:

High quality blood pressure cuff
Hands on clinical support by our team to assist in evaluating blood pressure levels,
Education on warning emergency warning signs
Support in managing a difficult diagnosis.

Together, we can ensure that each Black mama has access to the care, information, and community resources she needs so that she can be ALIVE to help her baby thrive.
