WHO IS MICHAEL?
For more than three decades, Central Louisiana has been blessed by the talents and kind heart of an extremely gifted musician and teacher, Michael G. Sterne. Michael has played a vital role within our Central Louisiana Arts community in a variety of ways:
- Music directing countless performances and thousands of rehearsals
- Spreading his expertise and love for classical music to hundreds of students
- Recording fully orchestrated accompaniment tracks for a dozen major musicals
- Conducting orchestras and combos for a wide variety of musical productions
- Saving many of us from missing music cues!
- Bringing stories to life on stage through his artistry and thoughtful collaboration with a wide variety of directors.
Michael has supported more than a dozen arts groups in countless ways over the years. Now, it’s our turn to come together to support him.
In 2022, Michael must undergo kidney transplant surgery, which has led to unexpected financial expenses. In response, sixteen organizations have rallied together to present CURTAIN UP FOR MICHAEL. This collaborative group hopes to raise at least $25,000 to ease the financial burden Michael faces now and after his surgery.
Join us for an evening of Broadway presented by Cenla's best! This benefit concert features seasoned performers of all ages from a wide variety of theatre organizations and schools.
Curtain goes up January 29 & 30 on SATURDAY at 7:30 PM and SUNDAY at 2:30 PM at the Martin Performing Arts Center on the campus of Louisiana College. Show passes are available for levels of giving, including $15 Youth, $25 Soloist, $50 Virtuoso and $100 Maestro. Patrons may make an additional donation after putting the show passes in their cart! Those who are unable to attend CURTAIN UP FOR MICHAEL can help by making a donation of any amount.
We are grateful to Louisiana College for their donation of the Martin Performing Arts Center and to the technicians, artistic directors, performers, and everyone behind the scenes who are all donating their time and talents to this worthy event. Thanks to City Park Players serving as fiscal agent, all donations are tax deductible and will go directly to help Michael meet the financial burdens created by his need for a kidney transplant.
Thank you for supporting CURTAIN UP FOR MICHAEL!
