Children in Foster Care / Homeless & Housing Insecure / Victims of Violence / Animals in Shelters

We are often asked how we became involved in these areas which we refer to as the pillars of our organization.

Our journey began with a heartfelt commitment to aiding the Homeless and Children in Foster Care. However, our founder’s vision evolved when a friend shared her tragic experience of losing her mom to domestic violence. He realized that Victims of Violence often face Homelessness as they escape dangerous situations, sometimes with just the clothes on their backs. Moreover, Children from such environments frequently end up in Foster Care. This insight prompted us to broaden our mission to include Victims of Violence.

Our founder, also a devoted parent, wanted to set an example for his children, instilling in them the importance of helping others and making a positive impact in the community. When he shared his nonprofit idea with his children, they asked a simple question:

“But what about the animals?”

In response, he explained that Share in the JOY was primarily focused on helping people, such as children in foster care, victims of violence, and families without a place to call home. However, his children emphasized that animals, too, can be homeless, subject to mistreatment, and in need of foster families or adoption.

As a result, Share in the JOY expanded its mission to include support for Animals in Shelters.

Our multifaceted approach reflects our commitment to creating a better world for everyone, regardless of their circumstances, with a focus on areas we are passionate about.
