Please consider making a financial donation to the Hardy County Cryptids youth mountain bike team. The financial donation could potentially help a Hardy County youth defray the cost of league and race fees, safety gear (helmets), bikes, team uniforms, team tents, race food, and mountain bike maintenance and repairs.

The Hardy County Cryptids is a community mountain bike team composed of private, public, and homeschool student-athletes in grades 6-12 from Hardy County and the surrounding area.

All Cryptids competed in the 2024 West Virginia Interscholastic Cycling League (WVICL) races and plan to in the 2025 season. The WVICL is a part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). NICA develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States.

NICA and WVICL both have missions to get “More Kids On Bikes”, build strong minds, bodies, character, and trail stewardship ethos for all student-athletes. This is done through core values of Inclusivity (no bench-warmers, every finish counts), and Equality (no tryouts, everyone rides). There is a place on the team for everyone. Improving the health and well-being of the Hardy County youth and developing the next generation of trail stewards and mountain bikers is an important team goal.

The Cryptids are also a part of NICA’s Teen Trail Corps. The Teen Trail Corps supports the vision to see every youth empowered by introducing them to the world of advocacy. The Teen Trail Corps program introduces student-athletes to the culture of service and presents an opportunity to showcase the team's commitment to the local trails and develop good community relationships within Hardy County.

The team is managed by a Head Coach and Team Director, along with a team of well trained and certified coaches and ride leaders.

Thank you for your consideration to support our team for the 2025 season. Pre-season activities begin on April 1, 2025, training starts July 1, 2025 and the race season begins at the end of August 2025.
