Na Koa Alii Scholarship

Our 501 (c) 3, Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO), Kina’ole Foundation, is raising $1,000,000 to establish in perpetuity the Na Koa Ali’i Scholarship, an educational endowment for Native Hawaiians.

Our vision is bold and life changing; to create a community of Native Hawaiian scholars who will evolve the communities of the world.

Education unlocks the potential of young leaders, their families, and entire communities. Specifically, resource-starved Native Hawaiian communities are in dire need of inspiring role models who are empowered by education.

THE PROBLEM

1. Hawaii ranks top 10 lowest High School graduation rates in the US.

2. One in four Native Hawaiian adults struggle with reading at a fifth-grade level.

3. Of all Native Hawaiian students who go to college, only 6% graduate.

4. Native Hawaiians are the top ranked demographic for absenteeism in Hawaii.

    THE SOLUTION

On May 1, 2022, Kina’ole Foundation, in partnership with The Royal Order of Kamehameha I, will form a one-million-dollar endowment fund, awarding the Na Koa Ali’i Scholarship to young Native Hawaiian scholars interested in pursuing secondary education while developing leadership roles in their community.

Kina’ole Foundation will work side by side with scholarship recipients to initiate change from within. We believe the collective power, capabilities, and ideas of educated Native Hawaiian leaders, can implement solutions that will positively change Native Hawaiian communities for generations.
