The Kibera slum is home to over one million people. This unauthorized settlement on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, is the densest slum in Africa and the second largest slum in the world. Many girls in the slums, mainly due to extreme poverty, drop out of school. This leads to increased cases of teenage pregnancies, prostitution, and other criminal activities.

Passion to Share is a positive force aimed at changing the face of the poor Kenyan slums. It’s about economically empowering girls and getting them out of desperate acts. It does this by offering a FREE six-month training program in fashion design, or computer graphics, or hairdressing and beauty to young women from the Nairobi slums and surrounding villages. Not only do the young women learn a skill, but they are also taught communication skills, public speaking, and marketing.

Passion to Share is able to offer this training through the support and kindness of many donors, especially that of the Warm Hearts Foundation. Resources are carefully managed, and there is no room for extras—like books to support their learners. All education right now is oral, from the instructor to the learner. THERE ARE NO BOOKS FOR TECHNICAL LEARNING OR FOR INSPIRATION.
