Dad Letter Project

It started with one dad who never stopped writing.

Since Rosie was in fourth grade, her dad Buz has sent her a letter every single day she was away from home. Through summer camp, college, her first apartment, her first job, the birth of her son — a letter, every single day. Sometimes advice. Sometimes a joke. Sometimes just: I'm proud of you. I love you.

In July 2025, Rosie posted a TikTok asking if anyone else would want a letter from her dad. The response was unexpected. Hundreds of people said yes — some who had lost their fathers, some who never had one who showed up, some who just needed to hear from a dad that they were seen.

That's how the Dad Letter Project was born.

What's happened since has been its own kind of beautiful. More dads stepped up — dads who have been showing up for their own kids for years and jumped at the chance to do it for strangers. People rolled up their sleeves and pitched in: assembling care packages for dad writers, reviewing applications, coaching the founders, encouraging, building this thing from the ground up. The list goes on.

We now have volunteer dads writing letters from across the country, each one matched carefully to the person who needs it. Over 9,000 people have requested a letter. Thousands have been sent to mailboxes all over.

If you believe in the power of a good old-fashioned dad letter — thank you. Every contribution helps keep them going: supporting our volunteer writers, screening and onboarding new dads safely, and managing thousands of requests with the care they deserve.

We're really glad you found us.
