The Dallas Examiner's mission is to inform, educate, inspire and empower the community. We’ve been dedicated to serving the community since 1986. It was our founder’s vision to be a voice to our community as well as for our community.
Therefore, our news has to be as diverse as the individuals that we serve.
But we can’t do this alone. As with many media outlets, advertising has significantly decreased as corporations have turned to digital advertising for promotions and marketing. In order to fully support our community, we need additional support. Each day, our News Desk receives hundreds of emails – and a few phone calls – many of them asking us to cover their event, let the community know about their organization’s services, review their book or music, or report on an announcement. Occasionally, one of those emails or phone calls is someone who simply wants to share their story of tragedy and triumph.
These are the things that excite us, sharing news and stories about the community with our readers. But our resources are limited, therefore our opportunities to support our community is limited.
The additional financial support would also allow us to cover more in-depth subjects, such as the disparities that are affecting the African American community: health, finances, education, etc. Information is power, and as a newspaper, we feel a great sense of duty to be a vital source for information and resources.
The 2022 Dallas Examiner Local News Fund is a program administered by Vision Team, a 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with the Dallas Examiner. The purpose of the program is to allow the Examiner to solicit tax-deductible donations from the community for journalism projects that focus on critical local issues. Contributions to this program are tax-deductible to the full extent of U.S. law; please consult a tax advisor for details.
