I have had a difficult time posting about this one; I lost my Daddy in 2022. A week ago today, heaven gained another beautiful angel, Dana Lott, my cousin. This one hit hard as we are only 3 months apart and both Mommies! But most of all because she FOUGHT long and hard against lung cancer. She was a Physical Therapist at Duke University Hospital.

Growing up, we always lived far away, but that didn't stop us from being close as teens.. Dana was one of those special people that you could pick up right where you just left off, and you never knew. I am so thankful that God allowed our busy lives to reconnect last September.
I will always cherish this last reconnection that we were blessed to have and will never take it for granted. After that visit, we either talked or texted almost every day! Now to have that taken away , there are NO words to describe that pain.

One thing that I have learned is that cancer doesn’t care WHO you are, what you have done in this world, or sadly, what you haven’t been able to do; you are not exempt. Once you lose someone you love to cancer, it hits home on a whole different level.

In honor of my amazing cousin Dana, and with tomorrow being Mother’s Day, I would LOVE to honor her by donating through our charity. She was so excited and supportive of all that we are doing at BNCI. I would love to give back and now show support during this tragic time to her beautiful daughter Savannah, who is 5. Dana LOVED her deeply and wanted the very best for her; our donation will go towards the funds that they started.
