Healing Without Barriers: Therapy Vouchers for Our Community

No one should have to choose between their mental health and their finances. At Deeper Than Color, we believe therapy should be accessible, culturally responsive, and affirming. Yet too many people, especially those from marginalized communities, are locked out of care by high deductibles, long waitlists, insurance red tape, or no insurance at all.

This campaign will fund therapy vouchers that directly cover sessions for individuals who cannot otherwise afford care. Every dollar raised goes toward breaking down barriers and ensuring that healing is not a privilege, but a right.

Why This Matters

The Gap: Insurance companies often deny or delay access to therapy, leaving people waiting months or paying thousands out-of-pocket.

The Impact: Marginalized communities are disproportionately affected, facing systemic inequities in access to culturally responsive care.

The Solution: Community Aid supported therapy vouchers provide immediate, direct support without red tape, or waiting lists. Just care when it’s needed most.

What we are already doing.

Voucher Acceptance: We accept therapy vouchers from partner programs and process them so clients can use vouchers at their appointments.

Sliding Scale Fees: We offer reduced session rates based on demonstrated financial need.

Out-of-Network Insurance Support: We offer courtesy billing for out-of-network claims so clients don’t have to manage paperwork.

We are a team committed to mental freedom and the happiness it brings.

We offer counseling and psychological support to diverse clientele who are experiencing psychological distress related to oppressive systems.
We seek to build a community of clinicians who can work within best practices and focus on client care rather than on hour percentages.
We strive to create a work environment where clinicians are recognized for their expertise and encouraged to grow their professional identities beyond the provision of psychotherapy. By fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and innovation, we empower clinicians to bring their full selves to client care. Supporting clinicians in this way strengthens their ability to provide culturally responsive, affirming therapy that meets the diverse needs of our community.

This mission guides our voucher program: ensuring that care is not only accessible, but also affirming, sustainable, and rooted in equity for both clients and clinicians.

Our Goal

$25,000 = 250 therapy sessions fully covered
$50,000 = 500 sessions, reaching dozens of individuals with ongoing support
$100,000 = A sustainable therapy voucher fund that can serve our community year-round

How It Works

Funds raised are placed into a dedicated voucher pool managed by Deeper Than Color.
Vouchers are tailored to each client's circumstances. They may reduce session costs or fully cover therapist fees for those with the greatest need.
Clients redeem vouchers directly, ensuring immediate access to culturally responsive, identity‑affirming care without insurance barriers or red tape.
