Delano Wharf Prints

The Kingston Public Library Foundation is selling a very limited number of prints of the iconic Delano Wharf for $150 each. The original can be seen in the Kingston Public Library. The KPLF is selling an 18" x 27" giclee print that was photographed by Lance W. Keimig of Pembroke. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist's daughter, Bonnie Allen.

DELANO'S WHARF was painted in 1979 by Marshall Joyce. It was commissioned by Philip and Robert Cronin of Kingston as a gift to Kingston Public Library in memory of their sister, Janet Cronin Giammarco (1917-1978), who served as library director and longtime Library Trustee, and as a devoted swimming teacher at Gray's Beach, near Delano's Wharf.

Marshall Joyce, a noted maritime artist whose home and studio overlooked Kingston's Jones River, came from a seafaring family. His grandfather, Captain Marshall Woodside, sailed the full-rigged ship Sintram; his father was skipper of the three-masted schooner Frank Brainard. Marshall Joyce was particularly fond of the age of sail, which was at full tide in Kingston around the time Delano's Wharf was built (1802-03). The Delanos were prominent among the leaders of the Town's bustling maritime community, and the wharf was one of several along Rocky Nook's waterfront. Standing, as it does, at the center of the seascape, the warehouse may be seen as a symbol of Kingston's seafaring history. Today it is a private residence.

This would make a lovely gift for someone special or even yourself for the upcoming holiday season!

Prints will be sold first come, first served.
