Founded in February 2009, capracare invests in training, educating, and employing local leaders in responding to emergencies and healthcare needs. This Haitian-led development approach improves the resiliency of Haitians by promoting strong community systems and addressing the many factors that contribute to health.

As a trusted community health resource for the area, capracare now serves a community of over 20,000 children, youth, and families living in the southern region of Haiti. The organization mobilizes local volunteers, healthcare and public health professionals, and members of the global humanitarian community to provide medical and preventative healthcare, mental health services, and education to rural communities. Our organization shows the beauty and hope of the people of Haiti as they shape their own resilient futures.
