Founded in 2011, Dermetel is a 501-c(3) nonprofit organization devoted to the promotion of dermatologic disease awareness and the institution of programs and services to alleviate dermatologic health disparities.

It was founded by students for patients worldwide. Originally a registered student organization with over 60 student members at 9 college chapters in the US and Canada, it has now evolved into a full-fledged nonprofit organization with a smaller number of professional student volunteers in law, medicine, business, and science.

Dermetel is devoted to leveling the dermatology playing field between the haves and the have nots in creative and innovative ways. In spite of a small budget, Dermetel has continued to exceed expectations by opening a free children's summer camp for pediatric dermatology patients, a free teledermatology service, and now rare disease pharmaceutical clinical trials.
