SAAFC is beyond excited to announce our Launch Party for our brand-new original podcast, Desi Doubts, co-hosted by the amazing Dr. Sonalee Joshi (PhD in Clinical Psychology) and Rupal Joshi (lawyer, single mom, cofounder of SAAFC).

If you’re struggling with your mental health and want to make a change but feel overwhelmed, guilty, ashamed, or alone, we made this podcast for you. On the pod, Sonalee and Rupal share their own stories, and pair them with evidence-based research, to help you find your way back to the strong, beautiful, messy, and most true version of yourself. (Think evidence-based research meets #Bigsis energy)

At this intimate gathering, Sonalee and Rupal will go through clips of the first season, have an open Q&A with attendees about the topics discussed, and complete an art-based connection and reflection exercise together. Of course, there will also be time for mingling while enjoying delicious snacks, refreshing drinks and the best vibes.

South Asian Americans for Change (SAAFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022 with the mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health within the South Asian American community. Despite 1 in 5 South Asians experiencing mood or anxiety disorders, cultural stigma and a lack of culturally competent care often prevent individuals from seeking help.

SAAFC is changing this by:

Art: Showcase 100+ original art pieces and produce original media including a 3-part mental health docuseries with over 15,000 views per episode and launch of a new podcast.
Community: Engage 1000+ attendees, build partnerships with 50+ organizations, and grow our social media following to nearly 20,000.
Education: Host 7 virtual workshops with an average of 30 attendees each, along with expert panels on mental health topics such as suicide, in-law boundaries, and mental health in immigrant communities.
