Design a Cell Phone was Edheads' most popular engineering game. Students took a look at audience research and then designed a cell phone interface that would work well for senior citizens. They were given budget and battery life parameters, and had to navigate engineering 'trade offs' in their design. After designing they took their specific phone to a test group of senior citizens. Then they could go forward into sales or back to redesign.

The game was used by more than 15 million students before Flash ended in 2020. Edheads would like to convert the game to HTML5, suitable for all browsers, and also update the phones in the game to reflect current models. We're not sure kids will even recognize the phones in the game from 2006 as phones! Please help us bring this much-loved game back for upper elementary and middle school students nationwide, so that another 15 million students can learn about engineering while reinforcing the math skills needed to become an engineer.

If we do not reach our goal within a year, the money donated here will go to another engineering activity at Edheads.
