Story
2022 is going to be a big year for Pennsylvania's general elections, and your participation really does make a difference.
Writing letters to registered voters is one of the most effective ways to help increase election turnout, and doing it alongside friendly people with snacks and drinks makes it fun!
For the last several months, the DGS Philly community has been gathering people to engage in some of the easiest and most social activism there is by writing simple heartfelt handwritten letters to registered and low-propensity voters encouraging them to participate in our democracy.
So far, we've written more than 3300 letters. Our next goal is 4000!
Before the end of the summer, we'd like to total 6000 letters to send out weeks before the general election.
Chip in a few dollars to cover postage, envelopes, and other supplies.
Besides RSVPing for an upcoming letter writing session, the easiest way to help is donating a few dollars to help cover the cost of materials.
Since volunteer time and event spaces are all donated, 100% of your donations go directly into the supplies needed to bring people together and write these letters and helping more people engage in the democratic process.
This event is organized by your fellow Philadelphia citizens, all letter writing materials are paid for by community donations, and we use templates from an independent and non-partisan organization called https://votefwd.org.
Do Good Shit Philly is a community of civically and politically active Philadelphians, and we'd love to meet you.
These events are led by squid biologist, science communicator, and local organizer Sarah McAnulty, with support from Alex Hillman and the Indy Hall coworking community.
All participants are expected to read and understand our core values, code of conduct, & contribution recommendations.
