Dialogue on Race Louisiana was established in 2012 in response to the lack of spaces for authentic, open, and honest conversations about race. Community members expressed a clear need, so Maxine Crump, founder and current CEO, created a program where people could talk about racism, confront racial myths, and examine its historical and structural roots.

She launched the Dialogue on Race Original Series, which remains the foundation of the organization’s work. Since then, additional programs have been developed to meet the growing demand for meaningful engagement. These include the Historical Throughline and Everyday Activist, which, alongside the Original Series, equip individuals and institutions to understand racism as a system and take informed steps toward its elimination.
