Story
The Diane League is a charity basketball league supporting families impacted by cancer. The league will take place this November every Sunday at East Woods School in Oyster Bay, New York. The League will consist of 6 teams sponsored by local businesses for an awesome month of 3v3 basketball action. To Learn more about the proceeds of your tickets/donation, visit www.DianeFund.org.
We are so excited for this next Diane Fund community event, and as always we hope you will join us for a good time and an even better cause.
Diane Fund is a student-led charity fundraising organization dedicated to supporting those patients and families struggling with cancer.
Diane Fund is named in honor of Diane Lohan, who sadly passed away battling brain cancer in 2015. Our mission at the Diane Fund is to emulate the generosity and kindness the Lohan Family received during their time of hardship through financial aid and community activity. Our goal is to raise significant funds to alleviate families' financial burden in times of hardship and allow families to direct their complete attention to their loved ones, who should always be the main priority.
Having personal experiences with the hardships of cancer, the stories of millions have inspired us to try to give back in any way we can, as we've seen the struggles that cancer brings to everyone involved. Proceeds of the Diane Fund go towards supporting those families through their battle with cancer.
The Diane Fund was founded in 2018 in memory of my mother and friend, Diane Lohan. Donations to The Diane Fund directly support the critical needs of cancer patients and their families through the long-standing patient assistance programs at the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation (BMCF). The goal of The Diane Fund is to help provide financial and emotional support to cancer patients and their families who may not be able to cover the costly expenses associated with their treatment.
Diane Ellen Lohan was my mother, but she was really so much more than that. Working as a police officer in Suffolk County, she loved to help and care for people and knowing her as a child, this was all I saw from her. She was there for me if I was scared in the night as I often was- or even if I wanted something as small as a glass of water. Nothing was too much for my mom, and every day I try to help others in the way that she helped me. I was inspired by my mother’s kindness and compassion to start The Diane Fund at BMCF to raise money for patients and families struggling with the many burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis. Every day, I think of my mother, and I try to make her proud.
My wish is that The Diane Fund at BMCF will allow patients with cancer to receive the highest quality treatment and alleviate the many financial and emotional burdens faced by families during treatment and recovery. As a teenager who lost his mother too soon, I want to provide hope and support for children in similar situations, so that their loved ones have the best chance for recovery. Please donate to The Diane Fund today to honor my mother and help those in need.
