Hugh and Wilda Jones met on the mission field. Its only destined that God led them to a holy invitation of changing the lives of others that changed their own. Who knew that working on a mission in their own back yard with children in their community would revolutionize them to have passion beyond the four walls of the church? It was on this mission trip that they met, found love, married, and are still working to build God’s kingdom, God’s way.

Over the years, building relationships and bringing people together have always been our most important work. With collective years of ministry experience working with churches and nonprofit organizations, as a couple, we are uniquely positioned by God to be bridge builders who are nurturing people through discipleship. We strategically are working across racial lines to foster reconciliation.

We are asking you to join us as we expand our reach to help others.

“Disciples Journey is truly an overflow of its founders’ identity and lifelong commitment to empower others locally and abroad.”   Vernon Gordon, III, Pastor of The Life Church RVA

After being saddened to learn there were only 1% of African Americans on the mission field, we were passionately moved to have a heart for missions in bringing new life to others. Missions work is impactful, makes a difference, and changes the world, whether here or abroad.

Therefore, our very first endeavor is sponsoring one individual and a family of four, with two young children, who as missionaries will be sent to the Middle East.

Other aspects of our Disciples Journey vision are:

Discipling Relationships - pouring into sons and daughters with real-life stories and biblical principles to help develop spiritual growth and create disciplines to carry out Kingdom assignments; realizing no one walks alone

House of Reconciliation – being a safe haven for authentic relationships to just happen with the ministry of presence and welcoming home environment of peace and comfort for real fellowship, conversation, healing, refreshing, and restoration

Resource Center – providing information and knowledge of resources available for daily living, both practically and spiritually

Missional Support – establishing an atmosphere of family that connects and assist students with a home away from home while residing in Richmond and abroad; assistance meets personal, social, financial, mental and emotional needs in preparation for deployment

Kingdom Partners - we are better together, as we continue to partner in unity, educate and facilitate ways to carry out the Great Commission and Great Commandment, and learn from each other

This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyesPsalm 118:23

We are grateful to be a part and to do our part in God's work. We appreciate your prayers and continued support as we do so.
