Sandria Washington (Chicago, IL)
Sandria M. Washington is a writer, media maker, well-being ambassador and emerging filmmaker proudly representing Chicago’s South Side. She is also #BlackAndAdopted. Sandria is co-founder of Black to the Beginning, an initiative to amplify the multi-faceted and often overlooked Black Adoption Experience, and also co-host of The Black Adoption Podcast. She believes that the way to change a narrative is to change the narrator, and aspires to create social change through filmmaking. The Black Elephants project that Sandria will work on throughout the fellowship reveals the invisible stories of four late discovery Black adoptees disrupting the legacy of secrecy, stigma, shame and silence in their families and society.
