Welcome to the Sanctuary

Our sanctuary is home to over 30 dogs. Founded by Cheri Brown Thompson, it embodies our mission to make the world a more compassionate place. Providing a safe haven for those without a voice has always been at the heart of what we do. The sanctuary offers not just shelter for these 30+ dogs, but also a space for them to rebuild their trust in humans. Many of these dogs have stories that could have ended tragically, but somehow they found their way to Healing Species, where we tirelessly advocate for their second chance at a loving family.

We work with highly trained handlers who interact with each dog daily, helping them learn to trust the right humans. Our goal is to show them what it means to be a dog—how to play, socialize, and make friends, both canine and human. We have confidence that every dog that gets adopted from our program is been worked with and ready to take the next step into the perfect family. This work is undoubtedly challenging, but anything worthwhile often is.
